{"id":990,"date":"2019-03-25T14:40:26","date_gmt":"2019-03-25T14:40:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.inpulse.com\/?p=990"},"modified":"2019-03-25T14:40:26","modified_gmt":"2019-03-25T14:40:26","slug":"engaging-people-in-your-purpose","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thirteencreative.co.uk\/inpulse21\/engaging-people-in-your-purpose","title":{"rendered":"Engaging people in your Purpose"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Purpose is key for organisations.\u00a0 Having a clear, and worthwhile purpose is frequently cited as the number one factor in attracting and retaining great people.\u00a0 That\u2019s why more and more organisations are looking to be purpose-driven.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">One of our clients, known for having a young, \u2018millennial\u2019 population, wanted to put greater focus on their purpose as an organisation. As part of this they devised a narrative that captured the spirit of the company and defined a clear path for their future.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">To transform the narrative from another set of words to something real the client wanted to capture stories that illustrated what motivates their employees and how their work really matters to their customers and communities. Inpulse was ideal to help people share these<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0stories.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Being quick, easy and enjoyable to use, it encouraged people to submit stories which they may otherwise have not done for fear of having to send in long bits of prose.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Alongside this, the client also needed to understand engagement and identify trends across\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">the whole of the organisation.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Inpulse helped them do this and its segmentation feature allowed results to be broken down by area of the business, age, length of service, location and career level.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">What did Inpulse tell us and how did it help?<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559739&quot;:120}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\u2022\" data-font=\"Arial\" data-listid=\"1\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Employees were highly motivated by helping and supporting others to succeed and develop (customers &amp; colleagues) &#8211; this needed to feature prominently in the purpose<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559739&quot;:120,&quot;335559991&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\u2022\" data-font=\"Arial\" data-listid=\"1\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Many of the stories highlighted that employees enjoyed working collaboratively, particularly when everyone pulled together to deliver in times of high pressure (such as in peak periods, unfortunate circumstances, and new projects) &#8211; sharing such stories help create a real sense of team and unity<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559739&quot;:120,&quot;335559991&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\u2022\" data-font=\"Arial\" data-listid=\"1\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"3\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Transparency across the workplace was highly valued \u2013 employees felt proud to work in such a transparent and open culture where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sessionlab.com\/blog\/leadership-activities\/\">leaders<\/a> are open and the organisation does not shy away from talking about social and ethical issues &#8211; Inpulse reinforced this as many loved being able to see the results as soon as they submitted their comments.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559739&quot;:120,&quot;335559991&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\u2022\" data-font=\"Arial\" data-listid=\"1\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"4\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">The company\u2019s aspiration and vision for where it wants to go inspired and motivated the employees.
