{"id":1027,"date":"2019-04-08T12:42:46","date_gmt":"2019-04-08T11:42:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.inpulse.com\/?p=1027"},"modified":"2019-04-08T12:42:46","modified_gmt":"2019-04-08T11:42:46","slug":"the-elephant-in-the-room","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thirteencreative.co.uk\/inpulse21\/the-elephant-in-the-room","title":{"rendered":"The Elephant In The Room"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Having spent the last year out and about meeting prospective clients, I\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">found<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0that most companies I visited undertake<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0an annual survey.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">I have written previously on the issues\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">that can arise with big once-a-year<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0survey<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">, however, what I was surprised by was that many of these companies view the annual survey as the pinnacle of their employee engagement.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Rather than seeing the survey as a step in a process, they saw it as an end in itself.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">I think everyone can agree that a year is far to<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">o long a time to wait to gather employee<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0feedback and th<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">e<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0survey should be seen as<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0the beginning of engagement not the end!<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Interestingly, a\u00a0well know<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">n<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0US survey company, one that likes to ask<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0a specific amount of questions<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0whose name begins with G, found that many companies create surveys that only satisfy what the Directors want to hear rather than seeking to understand\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">their employees\u2019\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">engagement.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">We want to call out the elephant in the room and make it clear that getting feedback from employees once a year is at best ignorant and at worst willful disregard for engagement.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">At\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Inpulse<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0we work with you to create fast, tailored surveys.
